Mandi Martin’s A Cemetery of Dolls finds its protagonist, Stephen, drawn to an island lost to time. Too tempting not to visit and find out more, Stephen finds himself caught up in a world of living dolls and their creator who is cheating death in the most macabre of ways.  Seeking to help all, will Stephen survive the island and the needs of its peculiar residents?

Highly original and leaning to the eerie, Mandi Martin’s A Cemetery of Dolls makes the perfect read for teenagers looking for something other than tales of angst ridden fictional versions of themselves.

The fourth novel to be published by this intriguing author, this latest work showcases her subtlety when it comes to bringing a plot to a conclusion that is almost impossible to second guess, whilst also oozing a quiet confidence that says her literary career is only just starting.

Autistic and suffering from other medical issues, Mandi Martin’s passion for her craft is evident in every well-constructed paragraph; and for those who haven’t yet discovered her work, A Cemetery of Dolls will have you eager to read more.

The author is donating a percentage of royalties from this novel to Autism UK.

Synopsis:

.. I lived in a cemetery of dolls.
An island lost to time and tales. A draw to the curious.
But when Stephen dares the shores he finds himself in a situation he could never have imagined. One of living dolls who seek freedom and their creator who has cheated death by replacing his dying organs in his search for answers never to be found and trapped in his own mechanical world.

Stephen seeks to help both, if survival allows, but will his help bring more despair

The author says:

“I have a lot of health issues, including a lung disease which is unfortunately incurable as well as Autism. I don't see these as things to hold me back though, they actually encourage me, and I hope to give some inspiration to people that whatever hand life gives you, you can still do something. As well as give people something to enjoy.

“I also find inspiration from older novels like those of Elizabeth Gaskell and M R James.”

Published by Michael Terence Publishing, A Cemetery of Dolls is available in paperback (£9.49) and Kindle format (£3.49 or free via Kindle Unlimited) on Amazon at https://amzn.to/3ZlZYFw and https://bit.ly/3vUbpGX

About the author:

Mandi Martin is in her thirties and lives in Ryde on the Isle of Wight, with her mother and brother.

She says:  “I have Asperger’s and writing became my outlet, social situations terrified me so I spent a lot of time writing poetry, drawing and losing myself in worlds of my own.

“I also adore animals; I prefer them to people, so my two cats clearly get away with almost anything.

“Weather and health permitting, I enjoy walking and also looking around graveyards, it possibly sounds morbid but the history and artistry fascinate me.”
